O Ispa – Instituto Universitário de Ciências Psicológicas, Sociais e da Vida abriu concurso internacional para a contratação de um(a) Investigador(a) Auxiliar, em regime de direito privado e dedicação exclusiva, na área de Psicologia, subárea de Neurociências.

A posição, com a referência Investigador/07/CT/2025, surge no âmbito do programa FCT Tenure – 1.ª Edição (Aviso n.º 02/C06-i06/2024) e será integrada no William James Center for Research (WJCR), unidade de investigação do Ispa. A contratação é feita por tempo indeterminado, ao abrigo do Código do Trabalho.

O período de candidatura decorre de 11 de abril a 13 de maio de 2025 (até às 23h00, hora de Lisboa).

O(a) candidato(a) selecionado(a) desenvolverá investigação centrada nos mecanismos neurobiológicos do comportamento e da cognição, com enfoque na relação entre fatores genéticos, ambientais e desenvolvimentais. São valorizadas abordagens metodológicas combinadas – comportamentais, fisiológicas e de neuroimagem – aplicadas a populações típicas e atípicas.

Entre as funções previstas estão:

• Coordenação de projetos com potencial de financiamento competitivo;
• Publicação e divulgação científica em contextos académicos e junto do público geral;
• Colaboração interinstitucional e envolvimento em iniciativas de extensão e valorização do conhecimento;
• Orientação de estudantes e desenvolvimento estratégico da linha de Neurociências Sociais, Cognitivas e Aplicadas do WJCR;
• Lecionação até 4 horas semanais.

Os candidatos devem possuir doutoramento em Psicologia, Neurociências ou áreas afins, experiência relevante de investigação e ensino, publicações de impacto na área e domínio da língua inglesa. A experiência anterior em instituições do Sistema Científico e Tecnológico Nacional é condição obrigatória.

O processo de seleção inclui avaliação curricular (80%) e entrevista (20%), esta última reservada aos três candidatos melhor posicionados na fase inicial.

Ispa opens international call for Assistant Researcher in Neurosciences

Ispa – Instituto Universitário de Ciências Psicológicas, Sociais e da Vida has launched an international selection process to recruit one Assistant Researcher in the field of Psychology, with a specialisation in Neurosciences. The position is offered under private law, with full-time, exclusive dedication, and a permanent employment contract.

This call, referenced as Investigador/07/CT/2025, is part of the 1st edition of the FCT Tenure programme (Notice no. 02/C06-i06/2024), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The selected researcher will join the William James Center for Research (WJCR) and will hold the “WJCR Chair: Assistant Researcher in Neuroscience_2” (reference: 2023.14590.TENURE.012).

Applications are open from 11 April to 13 May 2025 (until 11:00 pm, Lisbon time).

The position focuses on research into the neurobiological foundations of behaviour and cognitive processes, with an emphasis on the interaction between genetic, environmental and developmental factors in social behaviour across both typical and atypical populations. Candidates are expected to employ a combination of behavioural, physiological, and neuroimaging methods.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading research projects aligned with WJCR’s strategic priorities and capable of attracting competitive funding;
• Publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and engaging in public science communication;
• Collaborating with academic and non-academic institutions and contributing to knowledge transfer;
• Supervising postgraduate students and supporting the training of research fellows and interns;
• Teaching up to 4 hours per week and participating in curriculum development.

Eligible applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology, Neurosciences, or a closely related area, with a strong academic track record, teaching experience at multiple levels, and fluency in English. Prior postdoctoral experience within the Portuguese national science and technology system is a mandatory requirement.

The selection process involves a curriculum evaluation (worth 80% of the final score) and an interview (worth 20%), limited to the top three candidates from the first stage.
